Group-IB to Protect More Than 20mln Internet Users

One of the largest national telecommunications operators will provide cybersecurity services using Group-IB technology

Group-IB, one of the global leaders in providing high-grade Threat Intelligence and best in class anti-fraud solutions, and Rostelecom have signed a technological partnership agreement, which provides long-term cooperation in information security – focusing on cybercrime prevention and brand protection. The parties intend to carry out joint projects, exchange ideas, knowledge and experience, and to hold seminars and conferences.

The agreement reflects a growing trend: due to the growing number of threats, more and more global ICT companies are providing cybersecurity services to protect their clients.

The cybercrime community is shifting its focus from PC Trojans to malware for mobile devices. The amount of mobile malware fraud in 2016 grew almost 5 times against the year before, netting an average of 1.4 million Rubles (more than 23 thousand USD) a day. In January 2017 alone, Group-IB Threat Intelligence detected over 125,000 compromised mobile devices.

Cybercrime is a major problem for most businesses nowadays, Rostelecom pays attention by protecting its subscribers, infrastructure and partner network, meeting all current requirements. The long-term strategic partnership with Group-IB will help Rostelecom enhance its own and its customers’ security in Russia.

Among other things, the companies will cooperate in the sphere of provision of access to high grade Threat Intelligence.

Fighting against today’s threats requires active cooperation between a number of parties in data gathering, analysis and response to information security incidents, while threat intelligence has already become inherent part of threat prevention. We are honored to cooperate with Group-IB, because our colleagues have proved to be effective both on Russian and global market. I am sure that the sharing best practices and technologies will be beneficial not only for Rostelecom, but for the entire ICT sector.
