Group-IB partners with Coventry University Egypt to build the next generation of cyber defenders

New MoU brings Group-IB’s intelligence-led training in digital forensics, threat hunting, and incident response to Egyptian students.

Group-IB, a leading creator of predictive cybersecurity technologies to investigate, prevent, and fight digital crime, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Coventry University Egypt Branch, hosted at The Knowledge Hub Universities in Cairo. The partnership aims to support the development of cybersecurity talent in Egypt through joint initiatives focused on education, practical training, and knowledge exchange.

Egypt is one of Africa’s fastest-growing digital economies, yet the demand for skilled cybersecurity professionals continues to outpace supply across the region. Through this partnership, Group-IB and Coventry University Egypt aim to help bridge that gap by equipping students with practical, intelligence-led cybersecurity skills aligned with today’s evolving threat landscape.

Group-IB already operates a Digital Crime Resistance Center (DCRC) in Egypt — part of its global network of 11 DCRCs — giving the company on-the-ground visibility into the cyber threats, fraud schemes, and adversaries actively targeting organisations across the region. The collaboration with Coventry University Egypt extends this local presence into academia, bringing real-world cyber threat intelligence and investigative expertise directly into the classroom.

Under the MoU, students at Coventry University Egypt will gain access to structured training in digital forensics, threat hunting, incident response, open-source intelligence (OSINT), and reverse engineering — disciplines that are increasingly critical for defending organisations against sophisticated cybercriminal operations and state-linked threats. The two organisations will jointly develop curricula, co-host workshops and seminars, and explore internship pathways designed to provide students with exposure to live investigations, real-world attack methodologies, and industry-grade cybersecurity technologies. The parties will also explore providing students with royalty-free access to Group-IB’s cloud-based security platforms for educational purposes.

Beyond training, the partnership also includes a research component focused on emerging cyber threats, adversary tactics, and mitigation strategies. Through joint research initiatives and academic publications, both organisations aim to contribute to Egypt’s growing cybersecurity knowledge ecosystem and support broader cyber resilience efforts across the region.

MoU

“Cybersecurity is one of the defining challenges of the digital era, and addressing it requires strong collaboration between academia and industry. Our partnership with Coventry University Egypt is built on the belief that the best way to fight digital crime is to invest in the defenders of tomorrow. Through our Egypt DCRC, students will gain exposure not only to cybersecurity theory, but to the real threats, adversaries, and investigations shaping today’s threat landscape.”

Dmitry Volkov

CEO of Group-IB

“Egypt has one of the region’s most promising cybersecurity talent pools, and organisations are increasingly looking for professionals who can respond to modern cyber threats from day one. By combining Group-IB’s global threat intelligence and investigative expertise with local academic engagement, this partnership helps prepare students to understand both the global cybercrime ecosystem and the specific risks facing organisations in this market.”

Ahmed Tharwat

Regional Sales Director Egypt, NEA & Levant

“This partnership reflects our commitment to preparing students for the rapidly evolving cybersecurity landscape. Collaborating with a global leader like Group-IB allows us to bring world-class expertise directly into our academic environment, and we look forward to the opportunities this creates for our students and institution.”

Dr. Shahira Samir

Acting President, The Knowledge Hub Universities

“By working with Group-IB, our students will gain direct exposure to real-world cybersecurity expertise, emerging threats, and industry best practices that go far beyond the classroom. This collaboration will meaningfully strengthen both their academic foundation and their professional readiness.”

Dr. Haitham Ghalwash

Ethical Hacking and Cybersecurity Course Director, Coventry University Egypt

The MoU with Coventry University Egypt is the latest in a series of Group-IB academic and institutional partnerships aimed at strengthening cybersecurity capacity across the regions it serves. It reflects the company’s conviction that winning the fight against digital crime requires not only advanced technology, but also a new generation of analysts, investigators, and cyber defenders trained through real intelligence, practical experience, and close collaboration between academia and industry.
