Group-IB and AWS Bring Bahrain’s Industry Leaders Together to Advance AI-Driven Fraud Prevention and Digital Resilience

Group-IB, a leading creator of predictive cybersecurity technologies to investigate, prevent and fight digital crime, in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), brought together the region senior cybersecurity, financial services, risk and compliance professionals at Fraud Prevention & Resilience: Bahrain Majlis 2026, held on October 19 at the InterContinental Bahrain.

The event convened leaders from Bahrain’s banking, financial services, telecommunications, government and other key sectors to address the growing convergence of cybercrime and financial fraud, and the need to strengthen operational resilience as cybercriminals increasingly exploit artificial intelligence and sophisticated social engineering techniques.

Bahrain’s expanding digital payments ecosystem underscores the importance of strengthening financial cybersecurity and fraud prevention. According to the Central Bank of Bahrain, the Kingdom recorded 82.3 million point-of-sale transactions between January and April 2026, with 75.5% conducted through contactless payments. As digital financial services become increasingly embedded in everyday transactions, protecting consumers, financial institutions and the wider payments ecosystem remains a critical priority.

This focus on resilience also aligns with Bahrain’s national cybersecurity priorities. In August 2026, the Central Bank of Bahrain and the National Cyber Security Center jointly organized an initiative focused on securing financial services data in the AI era, highlighting the importance of cybersecurity awareness, preparedness and collaboration in addressing emerging digital threats.

Against this backdrop, discussions explored the importance of Cyber Fraud Fusion, an approach that breaks down traditional silos between cybersecurity and fraud prevention by connecting threat intelligence, fraud intelligence and digital risk protection. This enables organizations to gain a more comprehensive understanding of criminal activity, anticipate emerging threats and disrupt attacks before they result in financial or operational damage.

“Cybercrime and financial fraud are becoming increasingly interconnected, while artificial intelligence is enabling criminals to operate with greater speed, scale and sophistication. Traditional approaches focused on detecting incidents after they occur are no longer sufficient. Organizations need to understand how adversaries operate, anticipate their next moves and act before threats materialize. By connecting cybersecurity and fraud intelligence and strengthening collaboration across industries, we can build more predictive and resilient defenses against evolving digital threats.”

Vice President of Global Sales at Group-IB.
