Scams have become an escalating concern in Singapore over recent years, and the numbers have continued to surge. In 2022, the number of scam cases increased by 32.6% compared to the previous year, amounting to losses totaling to SGD 660.7 million, according to the SPF. In the first half of 2023, SPF recorded a 2.2% reduction in monetary losses from reported scams from the same period last year, which amounted to about SGD 334.5 million. SPF attributes this improvement to a concerted effort, bolstered by partnerships with private and public entities.

The recognition by SPF is a testament to Group-IB’s commitment to advancing Singapore’s digital safety. The accolade cites Group-IB’s collaboration with SPF in terms of training, knowledge sharing, and investigative cooperation. Group-IB’s Head of the Cyber Investigation team in the Asia-Pacific region, Vesta Matveeva, conducted a one-week attachment program for SPF investigation officers, providing invaluable insights into investigative methodologies and cutting-edge technologies to expedite the investigations of digital crime. Group-IB also provided assistance to SPF using its Threat Intelligence Platform, which holds the industry’s broadest range of intelligence with 60 types of sources across 15 categories.

“The cybersecurity community has evolved, and SPF acknowledges the investigative and training support of cybersecurity partners like Group-IB who have played a pivotal role in combatting cybercrime.”
