Group-IB to open Digital Crime Resistance Center in Thailand, signs partnership with leading Thai cybersecurity distributor nForce

Group-IB, a global cybersecurity leader headquartered in Singapore, has announced its plans to open a Digital Crime Resistance Center in Thailand. At a press conference held in Bangkok on March 15, the company also signed a strategic partnership agreement with nForce (SECURE), Thailand’s top cybersecurity-focused value-added distributor. Under this partnership, nForce will act as a distributor for Group-IB’s entire range of products and services accumulated under Group-IB’s Unified Risk Platform, an ecosystem of solutions that understands each organization’s threat profile and tailors defenses against them in real-time from a single interface. nForce will set up the first Incident Response (IR) Team in Thailand with the assistance of seasoned Group-IB Digital Forensics & Incident Response experts, who have over 70,000 hours of incident response operations worldwide under their belt. Group-IB will also provide training and dedicated support to nForce’s newly established Incident Response team. To streamline IR operations in the country and ease the process of data collection for forensic analysis nForce’s team will be equipped with Group-IB’s Managed Extended Detection and Response solution.

nForce has a strong presence in Thailand and is the leading cybersecurity-focused distributor in the country. Over 100 nForce partners cover all market segments, and the distributor has a particularly strong presence in the financial sector. Group-IB aims to improve coverage of the Thai market and assist local companies in dealing with ever-evolving cyber threats.

Thai companies are increasingly being targeted by various cyber threats. According to a recent Hi-Tech Crime Trends Report 2022/2023, Thailand ranked 5th in the Asia Pacific region with 27 victim companies whose data was published on ransomware dedicated leak sites between H2 2021 – H1 2022. It’s worth noting that the actual amount of ransomware attacks is significantly higher, as many companies choose to pay the ransom. Another worrying trend is the growing interest of initial access brokers in Thai corporate networks. IABs attempted to sell network access to 28 local companies over the same period, according to the Group-IB Threat Intelligence team’s findings.

To counter growing cyber risks, Group-IB’s Digital Crime Resistance Center in Thailand will bring together seasoned cybersecurity experts in the areas of Threat Intelligence, Digital Forensics & Incident Response, Cyber Investigations, Digital Risk Protection as well as Computer Emergency Response Team analysts. Equipped with the patented technologies tried and tested in more than 60 countries, the Group-IB team together with nForce experts will fortify the digital defenses of Thai companies by establishing a top-notch DFIR team.

Collecting digital evidence fully and correctly allows one to clearly understand the scope and develop appropriate measures to effectively contain a threat and prevent similar incidents in the future. Group-IB’s highly skilled digital forensics and incident response experts will train nForce personnel to respond to a wide range of security threats. Group-IB’s team uses cutting-edge Threat Intelligence-driven technologies and has a proven track record of effectively investigating and resolving complex cybercrime cases. As such, Group-IB’s decryptor for version four of the infamous Hive ransomware, written by the company’s DFIR team, helped to decrypt the network of a medical organization in Thailand.

“We at nForce are very pleased to partner with Group-IB, a global cybersecurity leader. By establishing an Incident Response team in collaboration with Group-IB, we aim to help organizations in Thailand to deter and prevent cyber threats. With a dedicated team on the ground capable of responding to incidents regardless of their complexity, local businesses can operate safely. Group-IB’s products and services will complement nForce’s offering and strengthen our market position. As more businesses embark on digital transformations, the demand for cybersecurity continues to rise. In 2023, we anticipate a 15-20% revenue growth from our government and enterprise sector customers in Thailand.”
