Introduction
This report examines a growing scam technique involving fake receipt generators – tools that enable fraudsters to create counterfeit receipts from well-known brands. This research was brought to our attention by our partners at Sorint.SEC, whose collaborative input helped uncover the depth and ecosystem of this emerging threat.
At the center of this ecosystem is MaisonReceipts, one of the most prominent services in the space. This investigation explores not only the functionalities of the service itself but also how these tools are promoted, sold, and used by both fraudsters and buyers.
The service is marketed through subscription-based websites, social media accounts, and encrypted messaging platforms, with features that make the fraudulent receipts appear convincing enough to deceive consumers and online marketplaces.

Fraudsters’ use of the tool
The fraudsters operate a relatively simple business model:
- Centralized website for payments
- Discord for community and support
- Promotions through “quality demonstration” videos on TikTok and YouTube
They offer receipt formats in multiple currencies (USD, EUR, GBP), increasing the illusion of legitimacy and international coverage.

Buyers’ use of the tool
Buyers often use fake receipts to resell counterfeit or stolen items, presenting them as authentic. This scam is frequently demonstrated on TikTok, where users show how fake receipts can be leveraged to deceive buyers on platforms that request proof of purchase.

While MaisonReceipt seems to be the most advanced service due to its functional website linked to a Discord channel gathering more than 30.000 members, the different fake receipt promotions visible on Discord show that many Discord servers offering a similar service also exist.

Conclusion
The emergence of services like MaisonReceipts highlights how easily fraudsters can weaponize seemingly benign technologies to conduct widespread scams. By wrapping illicit services in professional branding, leveraging popular platforms like Discord and TikTok, and offering multilingual, multi-currency support, these operations are becoming more sophisticated – and more accessible – than ever.
Our collaborative research with Sorint.SEC revealed that fake receipt generators are not niche tools but part of a growing, international fraud-as-a-service trend. With low barriers to entry and high rewards, this ecosystem poses serious challenges for brands, platforms, and consumers alike.
Protecting against this threat requires vigilance, better verification procedures in resale markets, and improved fraud detection by brands and law enforcement agencies.
